Homeless Prevention Programs
As part of New York City's plan to end homelessness, the Department of Homeless Services has established HomeBase Homeless Prevention Community Resource Centers in six Community Districts throughout New York City. The HomeBase centers began serving clients at risk of homelessness on October 1, 2004. "Doubled up" clients (where multiple families share housing) are especially encouraged to seek assistance.

Employment Services
The (IRF) Works program, established in 1995, is committed to training clients for employment, and placing them in livable-wage jobs.

(IRF) emphasizes employment and self-sufficiency in all of its residential and non-residential programs. The majority of (IRF) USA residential facilities offer employment services. Eligible clients from non-participating facilities are referred to employment programs within the (IRF) USA organization. The pinnacle of the (IRF) Works program is the (IRF) Supportive Employment Center at The Treasure Island, a residential employment center serving 200 adults at any given time.
